In 2015 at 19 she released her debut single, Here. It received lots of acclaim and was well received by both listeners and critics. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the same year. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was the first of five tracks that made it to the top charts on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. This track was special due to her Rap-Up interview she gave many of people who listened to her music could identify with her journey of discovering their own love as well as doubting herself. Cara is known for incorporating the themes of mental health and love and self-love into her music. The inspiration for her music stems from her personal struggles to conquer mental health issues and insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, her album has been described as a semi-tumultuous and half-perfected. She found growth through therapy and advises people to seek out help when needed. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born on July 11, 1996 to parents with Italian origins. At the age of 10 old, her parents gifted her a guitar, which was the starting point of her passion for music. At the age of 13 she began performing her favourite songs on YouTube one of the biggest media platforms to prove to the world she had the talents and courage to become a professional singer. Indeed the cover song Sweater Weather became the track that got her noticed by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose and record her own tracks.
