When she was 19 She released her debut single Here. It was a huge smash and garnered praise from both listeners and critics alike. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked it as 19. Even Rolling Stone listed the smash as one the most popular Songs of 2015. This same year, she also released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five songs she wrote that made it to Billboard's charts. The track was distinctive due to the fact that many listeners were able to relate to her interview in collaboration with Rap-Up regarding her struggles in learning to love and embrace herself. Cara integrates messages about kindness and loving yourself into her music. She has been struggling with anxiety and insomnia that have influenced her journey. In a Reuters interview, she's described her album as half-tumultuous but half perfected. She found that therapy made her stronger and she encourages other artists to follow the same path. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian heritage. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents after she turned 10 which ignited her musical passion. In the age of thirteen, she began singing songs she liked on YouTube to prove to people that she was a talented artist and brave enough to go after a career as a musician. A cover of one of her songs, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and record her own tracks.
